U.K. Sets Licensing Rules for Ka-band Services to Ships and Planes
British regulators approved a licensing regime for the use of Ka-band satellite frequencies on ships and planes. The Ofcom decision was restricted to systems using geostationary-operating satellites. According to Ofcom, Satellite operators, satellite services providers and industry organizations agreed that the ruling should be limited to geostationary-orbiting satellites. License modifications for aeronautical and maritime use will not be subject to additional fees.
