American Space Commerce Free Enterprise Act of 2017
On 8 June 2017, the U.S. House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology approved the American Space Commerce Free Enterprise Act of 2017, H.R. 2809.
Supporters of the bill claim that it will simplify and strengthen the outdated space-based remote sensing regulatory system, enhances U.S. compliance with international obligations, improves national security, and removes regulatory barriers facing new and innovative space companies.
The bill now moves to the full U.S. House of Representatives for consideration.
