Security and Defense

The increasing significance of dual-use technologies with multifunctional characteristics transcends the previous separation of civil and military research. Due to new security challenges such as asymmetric threat scenarios, security and defence cannot longer be seen separately. The European Defence Agency (EDA) and the European Commission have each introduced research and development measures. An integrated European defence market is emerging, abandoning former exemptions and special regulations.

We have broad experience in public procurement procedures, export control procedures and contract drafting in security and defence industry related R&D projects , including military space projects. We especially counsel in the following areas:

  • European Security Research
  • European Defence Projects
  • Military Satellite Projects
  • IT Outsourcing
  • Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
  • Geoinformation
  • Procurement Procedures (e.g. German Military Forces, NATO)
  • Use of space
