Third UN-GGIM High Level Forum
The third High Level Forum on UN Global Geospatial Information Management was convened in Beijing, China, from 22-24 October 2014. The 2014 High Level Forum was held under the auspices of the Secretariat of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM), in collaboration with the National Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation of China (NASG).
The 2014 High Level Forum, in particular, addressed the critical roles of geospatial information science, technology and innovation, as tools to integrate the three pillars (economic, social, environmental) of sustainable development, and as important geographic elements of the post-2015 development agenda.
The participants, finally, issued the Beijing Declaration on Sustainable Development with Geospatial Information, which serves as a (non-binding) commitment to the utilization of geospatial information to accelerate sustainable development.
