Space agencies agree to combat climate change
The heads of some of the world’s space agencies came together on Sunday 3 April 2016 at a meeting organized by Dr A.S. Kiran Kumar, Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), and CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall. The agency heads approved the principles of a Declaration which reaffirms commitment to monitor greenhouse gases emissions – the New Dehli Declaration
The Declaration follows on from the Mexico Declaration in October 2015, which laid the groundwork for the space agenda of the COP21, stating that “satellite observations are the key element of a global measuring system aimed at verifying the reality of commitments taken in line with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)”.
