More harmonised frequencies available for everyday wireless devices
The Commission has published the 13th May 2009 a Decision on the harmonisation of the radio spectrum for use by short-range devices. The Decision intends to make more harmonised frequency bands available and expands the scope of the original Decision on various short-range devices (Decision 2006/771/EC). A number of allocations for everyday wireless devices are added to the already harmonised frequency bands for devices such as garage door openers, wireless alarms, baby monitors, head phones and microphones. Besides adding harmonised frequency bands for existing applications, the Commission Decision also offers a harmonised spectrum environment for innovative high data rate, high-speed wireless technologies. Such multi-gigabit wireless technologies can be applied in many different consumer electronics products.
