Luxembourg Protocol signed in Rome
On 10 December 2009, the Luxembourg Protocol to the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment on Matters Specific to Railway Rolling Stock (the Luxembourg Protocol) was signed by the European Union. The signature took place at the Headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organisation in Rome: the venue, from 7 to 11 December 2009, of the Third Session of the UNIDROIT Committee of Governmental Experts for the Preparation of a Draft Protocol to the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment on Matters Specific to Space Assets. The Secretary-General of UNIDROIT, Mr José Angelo Estrella-Faria, echoed the sentiments expressed by the delegations to the Session by congratulating the European Union on its decision to sign the Luxembourg Protocol, and by noting both that the European Union’s decision followed a long history of very positive participation by the European Union and its member States in the development of the Cape Town Convention system, and signalled a strong vote of confidence by the European Union in the Luxembourg Protocol.
