EU-EUMETSAT Agreement on the Implementation of Copernicus
Today, Alain Ratier, Director-General of EUMETSAT and Philippe Brunet, Director of Aerospace, Maritime, Security and Defence Industries within the European Commission’s Directorate General for Enterprise and Industry, signed the Agreement between the European Union and EUMETSAT on the implementation of the Copernicus Programme.
Under the Agreement EUMETSAT will operate Sentinel -3, -4, -5 and -6 as well as Jason 3 and be committed to process and disseminate the data. For this purpose a budget of about € 229 million of the EU budget for the period 2014 – 2020 will be allocated to EUMETSAT.
