COM Communication on Data-Driven Economy

The European Commission published on 2 July 2014 a Communication on the data-driven economy. This is in response to the European Council’s Conclusions of October 2013, which focused on the digital economy, innovation and services as drivers for growth and jobs and called for EU action to provide the right framework conditions for a single market for big data and cloud computing. The Communication describes the features of the data-driven economy of the future and sets out operational conclusions to support and accelerate the transition towards it. It also sets out current and future activities in the field of cloud computing. It is accompanied by a Press Release, a Memo and a Staff Working Document.
