BHO Legal organizes the Legal Session of the upcoming Munich Satellite Navigation Summit 2014. <\/span><\/p>\n

We are proud that the organizer of the Summit has tasked us again with the organisation of this session. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n

The Legal Session (Session 6) this year will be held on the 26th<\/sup> March 2014, the second day of the Summit, from 3.45 pm to around 5.30 pm. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n

It will take on one of the main topics of the overall Summit focussing on <\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Regulatory Framework for Personal Privacy Devices and other GNSS Legal Topics<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Low-cost jammers or so-called \u201cPersonal Privacy Devices\u201d (PPDs) may be easily purchased via the internet.<\/span><\/p>\n

The easiest way to protect against the interference threat from such devices would to ban the use of PPDs by appropriate legislation. <\/span><\/p>\n

However, the approach is currently different from country to country: While the use is PPDs in some countries is sanctioned by criminal law, in others no restrictions exist at all. <\/span><\/p>\n

In this connection, also questions of privacy and personal data protection laws arise.<\/span><\/p>\n

On this background, what is really the preferable approach to protect satellite navigation against interference from PPDs? <\/span><\/p>\n

The panel provides information and discusses the regulatory situation of sale, ownership, and use of PPDs within Europe and worldwide. <\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, current topics and latest legal developments, such as the new European GNSS Regulation, will be addressed.<\/p>\n
