Vom 12. bis zum 15. Mai 2014 fand im Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, US-Bundesstaat Florida, eine Tagung der Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) statt. Hierbei handelte es sich um eine der weltweit gr\u00f6\u00dften Tagungen im Bereich von UAS. Mehr als 600 Aussteller, \u00fcber 8000 Teilnehmer aus 55 Nationen waren dabei.<\/p>\n

Unter anderem berichteten drei Vertreter des US-amerikanischen Drohnenprogramms \u00fcber ihre wichtigsten Projekte: James Cluff, Herr \u00fcber die "Reaper"- und "Predator"-Kampfdrohnen der Air Force, John Thurman, Kommandant einer Aufkl\u00e4rungsdrohneneinheit des US-Marinekorps und Nick Kioutas, verantwortlich f\u00fcr Entwicklung und Kauf kleiner Sp\u00e4hdrohnen der U.S. Army. <\/p>\n

Cluff begeisterte sich insbesondere daf\u00fcr, dass er als Kommandant des Geschwaders 80 bis 85 Prozent aller "Reaper"- und "Predator"-Flugrouten von der Creech Air Force Base aus kontrollieren w\u00fcrde. Die \u00fcberw\u00e4ltigende Mehrheit seiner Piloten k\u00f6nne an ihrem Heimatst\u00fctzpunkt bleiben. Massive Feuerkraft k\u00f6nnte so dort konzentriert werden, wo sie am meisten ben\u00f6tigt w\u00fcrde.<\/p>\n

Thurman hebte als positiv hervor, dass durch den Einsatz von UAS die Zeit zwischen Erkennen und Vernichten eines Ziels – die "Kill Chain" – bedeutend verk\u00fcrzt worden sei. <\/p>\n

Weiterhin entstand eine Diskussion, ob zuk\u00fcnftig zu Kampfzwecken autonome – nicht von Menschen gesteuerte – Kampfroboter entwickelt und eingesetzt werden k\u00f6nnten. Cluff und Kioutas k\u00f6nnen sich eigenen Angaben zufolge nicht vorstellen, dass es selbstst\u00e4ndig t\u00f6tende Roboter in den n\u00e4chsten Generationen geben werde. Dies wird zum Teil anders gesehen.<\/p>\n
