Compared to other EU member states, Germany today currently has the longest and most complex railway network. Massive investments into railway infrastructure and technologies are expected in the forthcoming years. As a result of the transition of the Second Commission's Railway Package into national law, the German railway regulatory laws and regulations are coming closer to a fully harmonised European railway framework.
